The standard voltage in the U.S./Canada is 110V However, much of the world uses electronics that use 220V. So when you travel abroad with your appliances, you’ll need to convert them from 110V to 220V. Before you make the conversion, always verify that your appliances are indeed 110V. 2. An inverter “tricks” your electronic device When you use a 220V inverter you’re technically not changing the voltage of the device. Instead, it causes the appliance to think it’s using 220V instead of 110V. If you were to use a voltmeter to conduct a test on your appliance you’d see that it’s indeed using 110V, instead of 220V. 3.
